BidyutBD ("the app", "we", "us") helps customers of the Bangladesh
Rural Electrification Board (Palli Bidyut / BREB) and DESCO view their
prepaid electricity meter information — balance, usage, recharge history
and bills. This policy explains what information the app handles, why,
and your choices. By using BidyutBD you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo to identify your account.
Meter / account numbers. The meter or account numbers you enter (up to three) to look up your connection.
Electricity data. Information returned by the BREB and DESCO prepaid systems for your meter — balance, consumption, recharge history, tariff and connection details.
Notification token. A Firebase Cloud Messaging token so we can send you alerts (e.g. low-balance reminders).
On-device preferences. Language choice, saved meter numbers and notification settings, stored locally on your device.
We do not collect your password, payment card details or precise device location. BidyutBD does not process any payments.
2. How We Use Your Information
To show your meter balance, usage charts, bills and recharge history.
To send helpful notifications such as balance-drop alerts, daily usage summaries, recharge reminders and service-status updates.
To remember your meters and preferences across sessions and devices.
To keep the app secure and to diagnose technical problems.
3. How Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information. Data is shared only with:
Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Messaging) — to sign you in, sync your data and deliver notifications. See Google's Privacy Policy.
BREB & DESCO prepaid services — to fetch the meter information for the numbers you enter.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
4. Recharge & Payments
Prepaid meters are recharged outside this app, through bKash, Nagad, Rocket, banks or authorised agents. BidyutBD only provides guidance and may open those apps or websites for you — it never collects or processes your payment information.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (encrypted in transit and at rest by Google) and in your device's local storage. We apply reasonable safeguards to protect it; however, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
Saved meters and preferences remain until you remove them or sign out, which clears them from your device.
To delete the data associated with your account from our cloud storage, sign out in the app or email us using the contact below and we will remove it.
7. Your Rights
You may access, correct or delete your information, withdraw consent, or disable notifications at any time from the app's settings or by contacting us. You can also revoke Google sign-in access from your Google Account settings.
8. Children's Privacy
BidyutBD is intended for electricity account holders and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, announced in the app.
